Time needed to go through customs in Paris and catch a plane to marseille

Hi,
I have an hour and a half between my arrival in Paris and catching a plane on to marseille at the end of August. I also have to go through customs. Is this a realistic amount of time given I will be carry on my luggage? I have been hearing of all the delays at airports this summer and it’s concerning.
Thanks,
Kelly

Kelly, I have the same concern. I will be flying into Paris from Miami and have one hour to connect to a Marseille flight.
I hope I hear from others here who may have experience re: this. My impression is that I would not have to go through Customs, because I am NOT leaving the airport. Customs happens when you are ready to LEAVE the terminal to go to the foreign city. If you remain in the terminal to connect to another flight. it is after the final leg of the trip when you are cleared through customs. I hope this impression I have is correct.

Adrianne- You’re correct about customs, which is only after baggage claim, just before exiting the airport.

But immigration one will go through in Paris, or whichever “port of entry” one arrives into the country/Schengen Zone.

The former is for goods, the later for people & passports.

OP, it's doable, providing you arrive on time, Immigration (Passport Control) isn't backed up by previous flights, and your flights are on the same ticket. Hopefully you can check in to your connecting flight at the same time as your originating flight. . But it could be tight, so don't dawdle, and see if you can find out in advance (or from your cabin crew on your incoming flight) which gate your next flight is leaving from. If your flights are on the same ticket and you miss your connecting flight, the airline has to put you on the next flight that has room for you.

If you are coming from Portugal, you have no immigration/customs to do.

If you are on one ticket you should be okay.

Hmm. OP, perhaps you need to clarify where you will be flying FROM when you fly into Paris. You have Portugal bracketed after your name. That is customarily your home country or region. Yet your user page states you are going on a Portugal tour. Before or after France?

Indeed, three key questions remain before we know how to answer:

1) is this all on one ticket?
2) where are you coming from ?
3) which airport — CDG or Orly ?

Thanks!

Well, we can probably cover all hypotheses:

Orly

  • Coming from Schengen (e.g. Portugal), one ticket: no problem

  • Coming from Schengen (e.g. Portugal), separate tickets: probably OK, but you need to buy a new ticket to Marseille if it goes wrong

  • Coming from overseas, one ticket: probably OK, and no big deal if the airline can put you on the next flight to Marseille (they are frequent, so you are likely to get a seat that same day)

  • Coming from overseas, separate tickets: nope

CDG is bigger and busier

  • Coming from Schengen (e.g. Portugal), one ticket: probably OK, and no big deal if the airline can put you on the next flight to Marseille (they are frequent)

  • Coming from Schengen (e.g. Portugal), separate tickets: on the fence, and you need to buy a new ticket to Marseille if it goes wrong

  • Coming from overseas, one ticket: on the fence, but no big deal if Air France can put you on the next flight to Marseille (they are frequent, so you are likely to get a seat that same day)

  • Coming from overseas, separate tickets: absolutely not

We flew SFO to Toulouse connecting at CDG. I was anxious as we had 1:40 to connect which seemed a little rushed with a terminal change. We made it with a little time to spare.. ±20 minutes. We had carry on only. Terminal 2F was very crowded. I think you can do it

Thanks for your input on time needed between connecting flights. I’m bringing a carry on and will be going through customs in Marseille so the time between connecting flights look doable.

You still haven't said where you are coming from. Are you arriving intra-European or coming from outside the EU? If outside, then you have to go through passport control in Paris. Customs is for your luggage.
