Time for train connection

I am looking at taking a train from Lyon to Bayeux. If I book it as one tickets most connections are seem to be about 50 min. The train arives from Lyon to Gare de Lyon in Paris and leaves from Paris St Lazare. It looks like using the metro it takes about 20 min between the stations. Would you consider it enough time. The train could be late arriving in Paris or the metro delayed. To me it seems tight but maybe I am just worring to much. The other option is to book it as two seperate tickets and book a longer time between trains. One option gives me about two hours between stations.

My plan is to have only a carry on suitcase.

My date of travel is May 25 if that makes a difference.

Thank you
Wendy

I dummy booked a random train and it doesn’t seem much more expensive to just book two tickets. But there actually is a way to adjust the connection time and then just purchase one ticket. It’s a little hard to find. For example, on the Rail Europe site, when I am entering my departure and arrival cities, there is a little clickable thing down to the right that says More Options - and that lets you set a connection time of your choosing.

Thank you for your responses. I was wondering if there was a way to purchase it as one ticket and change the departure time of the second train. I will do look to see how this works best or just purchase two tickets for piece of mind.

Thanks

yes but, Rail Europe is charging a commission aren't they? Why not go to the source SNCF?

Cutting it way too close for me, even if there is no delay.

Gare de Lyon is a big station, unless one is well familiar with it, and can basically cut through the crowds knowing exactly which exit to take to reach Gare St Lazare (two levels) by the Metro.

I would suggest the longer time wait period with 2 separate tickets.

Thank you everyone. Will be booking two tickets. I assume two hours is enough time? I am planning on the metro between stations but would a cab be better. You never know what Paris traffic is like.
