Time change in France this weekend

Anybody in France should remember to set their clocks and gadgets back one hour at 2 AM Sunday morning.

This way you won't be surprised to see that the patisserie isn't open when you expect it to be.

Not just France, the whole of Europe. All countries in the EU change from Summer time to Winter time this coming Sunday morning (30th October).
It was not always so, different countries used to have different dates, imagine the confusion! Long live EU harmonisation.

For the US, it is now the first weekend in Nov thanks to the candy lobby.

I have great timing -- I get an hour tonight in France and then again next weekend in Chicago. And of course when we fly back on Tuesday another 8 hours.

@woinparis, no it isn't, but it adopts a lot of the rules. Perhaps I should have said "All countries in Europe apart from Russia, Turkey and similar eastern extremities change on the EU common date".
I remember a few decades ago it was different dates in different countries, there was one month every year when the UK was one the same time as France, total confusion.
Or is Wallonia going to opt out of EU Summer time harmonisation next year, Waexit?
