Is it possible to buy tickets online for the Musee Marmottan Monet? I cannot find anything on the website other than prices and entry times.
Thanks
I don't know if you can get them online but when I went last time I just walked in - there was absolutely nobody before me at the ticket window. All of 30 seconds for the transaction.
I like that place very much.
I'm pretty sure - although not positive - that it was a Saturday late morning after I had driven down from Giverny.
I was able to buy them online last year, but if you do get them online, it is for a timed entrance. I believe it was www.fnactickets.com but just now found that you can them through https://m.ticketmaster.fr There was no line, though, so easily could have purchased the tickets there.
Don't be like me and leave without finding all the Monets on the lowest level. I think you have to go through the gift shop to find the stairs leading down.
The Musée Marmottan isn't as frequented as you might think. One really has to be going there to get there. And just when you think you're lost, there it is! It really is a fabulous museum. I have only been once but I think I'm going to go again this summer.
Thank you for the info. If it is not too difficult to walk up and get tickets I may do that since I am trying to keep my schedule loose because of the rail strike. I hope to do a couple of days trips out of Paris.
We have visited it 3 or 4 times and never seen a huge line.
We visited Saturday morning when they first opened and there were perhaps 5 people in line. I was glad to see that "Impression, Sunrise" was on display.
We did a walk-up last August on a Thursday around noon -no line and few people in the museum. We basically had the museum to ourselves, especially the basement room with the 4 seasons of Giverny. It's now one of our favorites.
Hi jj, wonderful museum, very special collection, no lines. Enjoy your trip!
Beyond Monet, you should visit the Marmottan if you have any interest in Berthe Morisot. The museum contains a large set of Berthe Morisot pieces thanks to Denis and Annie Rouart's bequest in 1993. The collection was directly inherited from Berthe Morisot and Eugène Manet, Denis Rouart being their grandson by his mother Julie Manet.
It was definitely worth a quick taxi ride. There's a nice dog park nearby for a nice break.
After a visit , walk down Boulevard de Passy toward Trocadero , and visit Passy Cemetery . You will find the graves of many notables including Edouard and Eugene Manet , Berthe Morisot , and Julie Manet .
Does anyone know how much the entrance fee for this museum is?? And do they offer any disabled discounts or child discounts??
Thanks
Thank you for the replies and suggestions. My initial question was asked because we had ,what now seems to be a very unusual experience at the Marmottan. In 2014 we arrived at the Musee in the rain to find a line up 2 blocks long that was not moving. We waited 30 minutes and still no movement. When I finally got to speak to someone at the door they told me it was because of a tour. He could not tell me when we would be allowed in. Due to the ever increasing bad weather we gave up and moved on.
I have wanted to see the musee for many years so this year I am trying to limit the possibility of long lines. Hopefully your easy access experiences will happen for me!!
A quick question - we are thinking of going to the Musee de Vin since it is only 20 mins walk away .Any comments on your experience of it.
