Hey, Guys, I live in Toronto and I will be visiting France with my kids next summer. They have French in their school curriculum but their French is still a bit rusty and I am keen on brushing up their French before we could come to France next year. We have a lot of French Tutoring camps in gta and I've been wondering whether it would be a good idea to have them enrolled in those camps for the summer. I have heard that these camps offer a lot of fun filled activities so it won't be plain, dull studying all day. In most of these camps the mode of instruction and communication is in French so it would be a lot easier for the kids to pick up. Is this a good idea? I would love to hear your thoughts on this.
Hello from across the lake!
I can't specifically speak about French immersion camps in the GTA, having zero personal experience. But I have taken week long residential immersion courses in Dutch in Europe. Based on my experience, if they already know some French, the immersion experience will likely give them a surprising boost in fluency. But unless they keep speaking, they'll rapidly lose it. So perhaps try to time your trip to France soon after their camp ends.
