Things to see and do while visiting Chamonix

In Chamonix the walk along the trail that runs parallel to river is really neat. Very calming and serene. The views from the Aiguille du Midi cable car and observation points are not to be missed.

We enjoyed:

Hiking
Renting bikes in town and riding along the river
Walking all over town
Checking out their wonderful Coop grocery store for things to bring home
Going to the top of Mont Blanc

Once you get to the top of Mont Blanc (Aiguille du Midi), take the open-air cable car through the clouds and over the peaks to Pointe Helbronner in Italy. Read about it in Rick's book - it's the experience of a lifetime!!

Hike to Lac Blanc! Take the cable car up to the first station and hike up to the lake or go up to the second station and hike down. There is a beautiful restaurant with a deck overlooking the lake and a view across the valley to Mont Blanc and the Mer du Glace that is one of the best in the alps!
