Things to do in Eze?

Making plans for lodging in Eze. I don't know whether to book 1 night or 2 nights. Is there enough to do in Eze to plan for 2 nights and 2 days?
Thank you!

We haven't made any plans yet, as I'm not sure what there is to do there other than experience the beautiful views. We love great food and wine, shopping small boutiques, and staying at beautiful hotels with a view.

My wife and I toured Eze as a day-trip, taking the bus from Nice. It was beautiful, one of our favorite memories of that trip. When you climb up the hill of the chateau, there's a garden at the top that gives you a great view, and there are shops and restaurants along the way.

I think the choice of staying one or two nights depends on how leisurely or active you like to be. For us, spending about 4-5 hours gave us enough time to see what we most wanted to see, but not enough to time to see everything, or to eat at more than one place, or to do the hike along the coast, which looked somewhat rigorous, as I recall.

In Eze itself, just about the only thing to do besides seeing the garden at the top (not only lovely itself, but with lovely views), is to walk around (more accurately, up and down) and luxuriate in being in a very small, very pretty town. It doesn't have other "turnstyle attractions," to use Rick's wonderful phrase.

From Eze, there buses to Monaco, Nice, and Eze bord de mer. To get anywhere else, you'd have to change in one of those 3 places. So, unless you have a car, it doesn't make a good base for seeing other Cote d'Azur locations.

If you want small town relaxation, two nights in Eze will be nice. If you don't, particularly if you won't have a car, one night will be fine. Or, you may prefer a more convenient Riviera location for your overnight, and just see Eze as part of a day from there.

You need to clarify as there are 2 "Eze's" - there's the one that I'm thinking of (and Harold and EBB are too) called Eze le Village which is inland and vertical, with one perfume tour sort of blend it yourself or try one of ours sort of place (Fragonard or the other I can't remember), one Casino brand small supermarket, one bus stop, one or two carparks, all on the main road at the corner of the road up, and then one vertical street where normal cars are banned without special permission. A few shops on this vertical street, then the hotel at the top with the adjacent Jardin Exotique. Very nice, very scenic, quite tiring walking up, great views. One of my old screensavers was a photo from the top at sunset.

The other Eze is Eze Bord de Mer (also called Eze sur Mer - which shows it is on the sea), which is several kilometres away on the coast and quite a lot down. The two are linked by what some are pleased to call a bus which careers down the very narrow winding lanes between the two and then into Villefranche sur Mer or somewhere near. It is a typical eastern Côte d'Azur village - very nice but not much to do. Does have a train station though.

Which one are you asking about?

We stayed in Eze for 5 nights after our Rick Steve’s eastern France tour. It was sublime. We actually stayed just above the village here: http://www.domainepinspaul.fr/?lang=en
We did have a car and one day we took a day trip to St Paul, another day to Monaco and Menton; but mostly we just poke around Eze and laid by the pool. La Turbie is a great village a few kilometers down the road where we at many of our meals. Phenomenal restaurants!

What April said ! Domaine Pins Paul is a delight and traveling to St. Paul, Eze, and Menton makes for a relaxing 2 full days.

If you are fit for an easy downhill hike, we loved the Nietzsche trail from Eze la Village down to Eze sur la Mer. Warning - your legs will feel like jello toward the end. Also loved having lunch at Deli in Eze la Village, had fun sampling the olive oils and vinegars. The proprietor lovingly and patiently gave me little tastes, a great memory, and great little souvenirs to take home (although I saw the oils for sale at the airport slightly cheaper, probably due to taxes, but I was happy to support the proprietor and purchase at Deli). .

Eze Village is very small. As someone noted, 4-5 hrs is enough.

To do: lunch at Cheve d'Or-- spectacular views from the dinning room & good food (Michelin ** when we ate there )

One night (or a day trip) is sufficient for Eze-le-Village, unless this will be your only base in the region and you have a car or just want to relax at the resort.

Bus 83 is the one that winds down the hill to Eze-sur-Mer (train station) and Beaulieu-sur-Mer. 82 is the bus to Nice via Villefrance-sur-mer (upper)
