The French Riviera

We are considering travel to the French Riviera in mid September 2024.

We usually prefer traveling during the “ shoulder season” in Either May or September. I know that The French Riviera is extremely busy tourist-wise June through August. Do The crowds calm down by mid September?
We are planning to spend 10 days in the area, with a homebase probably in Antibe.
Any advice would be appreciated.
Thanks,
BT

The crowds are definitely lower in mid-September, but still elevated from the true offseason. Beach clubs start to close from mid to late September.

We have friends who live in Antibes, so have been there twice to visit them--both times it was an April trip. September I would think would at least be better than July-August. Antibes is very nice, and you are conveniently located to go either east or west along the coast--or head into the Provence region. The first trip we went up into the Maritime Alps. On each trip we also went over the border for the day into Italy.
