We will be in the French Riveria in late April of 2025. This site has been great for planning our trip to Bordeaux. Now on the French Riveria. Looking for recommendations for a city or village to use as our base. Nice? Eze? Antibes? Any help is appreciated.
Nice, all the way. I’ve stayed several times at an Airbnb apartment (first two times it wasn’t Airbnb, but the owner has since switched to that format), staying in the Old Port neighborhood.
St. Remy was our base the last time for Provence, but is farther inland and west than I’d suggest for the Riviera.
Just to clarify, are you including western Provence in your trip? As noted above, St. Remy is far west in western Provence, beyond the borders of the French Riviera. It is a good base for a stay in that region, but is a good 2 hr and 45 minutes away from the heart of the French Riviera.
Nice would be better than Eze, for ease of transport and options in April (in case of inclement weather). Eze is very small and you'd need a car. It tends to get overrun during the day (although April is better). Another alternative could be Antibes or Villefranche-sur-Mer, for smaller locations. The are medium sized and small, but with better connectivity. .
Thanks, did not mean to add St. Rent.
