The Blue Walk tours in Nice

I just learned about the Blue Walk company. I'm interested in one of their art tours next June (2024). I've got a couple of questions.

  1. Has anyone here experienced one of their tours (especially an art tour)? If so, what did you like? What didn't you like?
  2. What is the weather like in Nice in early June? Is it very hot?

Thanks!

I have been on two art tours with the Blue Walk and they are amazing! (I went to Venice/Padua/Parma/Rapallo in 2021 and Amsterdam/Paris 2023). I like the small tour size and the blend of art classes with walking and exploring a new-to-me part of the world. I like that they’re not typical tours - that you don’t go to every museum and church. (Though I do love museums and churches.) These tours offer one of a kind, unusual experiences. I also LOVE that I learn so much about being a better traveler. Suzy and Jeanette are truly gifted. Worth every penny - and I will definitely be doing more Blue Walk Art Walks.

I have not been on their art tours, but I have been on 2 of their walking tours and am going on another in October. What I love is the flexibility. You are not herded around looking at sights on a tour bus. I have seen enough churches and palaces to last a lifetime. You are walking through cities and villages, seeing amazing views. Suzy and Jeannette are super informative and helpful. If you book one of their tours, you will not be disappointed!

Actual, historical, day-by-day weather statistics for Nice (as for most places of tourist interest) can be found on the website timeanddate.com. The data goes back about ten years. Check multiple years; I usually look at the five most recent years.

Weather in Nice June 2022

Use the pull-down box above the graph at the far right to change the month/year.

I don't see a recent history of high temperatures in early June (late in the month is a very different story). Being a cautious person, I'd want an air-conditioned room, just in case.

My sister and I were on the Blue Walk sketching tour in September with artist Koosje Koene. We would highly recommend this tour. The accommodation was excellent, central to the old town, restaurants and train station. Suzy and Jeanette were personable, engaging and very well organized. They were also very flexible when weather or circumstances affected their plans. They took time to familiarize us with how to use the trains, pointed out landmarks we could use to find our way around and were available for questions and advice. We had one medical situation in our group and they handled it efficiently and compassionately. We'd go again!

Hi there!

I was on The Blue Walk’s art walk in Paris last year in April. It was a.maz.ing! The thing I love most about it, besides, hello Paris!, was how laid back and easy going the week was. The daily itineraries were perfectly paced so that we did and saw a lot, but also had time to enjoy the moments. Pam Garrison was the teaching artist on my tour, and she was awesome.

I loved my experience so much, in fact, that I’m going back to Paris with The Blue Walk in September as a teaching artist. So, I can tell you the owners, Suzy and Jeannette, take a great deal of care in their business, planning off the beaten path itineraries for their small group tours that leave time for individual exploration, shopping, etc., too.

I think I might also be teaching during the specific tour you’re referring to. How fun!! But regardless of that, I really can’t say enough good things about The Blue Walk tours. Suzy and Jeannette are super organized, while at the same time very nimble if weather or some other circumstance arises that requires a quick change of plan. They are so friendly and easy to be with, really smart about the places they tour, and just have a really unique approach to small group touring. I’d recommend any of their tours. Safe travels!❤️

SandraL, just an observation but the 4 reviews are all from first-time posters. I have no info about the company but suggest you continue to research. The weather in Nice in June should be nice, mid 70s. Enjoy your trip!

Donna, I was going to post the same thing. It's a bit strange and I don't think I've ever seen anything like this before on RS forum. Makes me wonder. Were all these first time posters just lurking and waiting for this post? May be perfectly legitimate but call me skeptical.

I just tried to get to their website and get errors and no access. Call me even more skeptical.

The webmaster will determine if these are real or not. If not, they'll be gone. If they are real and independent, it seems like an excellent organization.

Absolutely valid concerns especially with AI bots and such these days - but I’m a real person (Calyxima). I’m a first time poster - or second-time poster now :) - because I don’t usually have anything to add to the forums. But I read and have learned a lot from Rick Steve’s guides and site. I’m sorry the Blue Walk website was down - they’re a small tour group - so maybe getting a mention on such a big site knocked them out? Keep checking and if you’re interested - Suzy and Jeanette are super to interact with. (I had a bunch of questions on my first trip with them.) Good luck and smart safe travels everyone.

I have been on 3 Blue Walk art tours (Greece 2017, Paris 2018, Nice 2022) and I am going on a fourth (Italian Riviera & Lake Como) in September 2023..
I’m a big fan of The Blue Walk for its attention to detail and customer service (I always get a prompt reply to any questions). I echo the comments of calyxima, pinkypalm, klassenbj and good2btig; I have thoroughly enjoyed each trip. The ambiance created in each tour is one of “really good vibes” and that’s one big reason I am a returning customer with The Blue Walk.

I am not familiar with the tour company operating in Nice, but I can comment on the weather: in early June, the weather can be a bit variable. Normally it is not too hot, with temperatures in the 70s/low 20s C ( There can be also days with rain (but not lasting the whole day). You might get a rare day in the lower 80s, but if that happens the rest of France is probably roasting.

OP here! Wow! This has turned into a very interesting thread.

I noticed on Friday that the Blue Walk Facebook page stated that the site would be down for maintenance. So that explains that one.

Thanks to all who responded with weather information and those who shared their Blue Walk experiences. I appreciate your help and input!
