Thanks for all advise about my travels

I just want to thank everyone for all their help with my planning for this trip to Europe with my daughter and 3 grandchildren. The suggestions about putting in the various apps on my smart phone to make navigating the metros from place to place have been invaluable. I'm not very good at smart phone use with apps, but I have giving your information to my very savvy daughter, and she is delighted to take over the job of figuring out this end of our trip. A huge weight off my shoulders. So many, many thanks. I do wish I could have a do over in terms of selecting our hotel in Paris, because you all have been unanimous in voicing your concerns about the "seediness" of PIgalle. I did try to get out of it, but to no avail since it's already been paid for and there is a no cancellation policy. Again, many, many thanks for all your help. I'm sure I'll be posting other questions as I continue to plan our trip.

PIgalle will be fine. It would not be my pick, but it is fine and you will easily get to where you want to visit. I can't remember how old the kids are but if they are young elementary age they might enjoy a trip to the out of the way Square Battignolles -- not that far from Pigalle. The antique carrousel there is charming and there are usually a variety of exotic water fowl in the little pond there. One of the more charming parks in Paris.

I join Janet. Pigalle will be fine. I think it is mostly an issue of appearances, and I don't think there is any elevated level of danger in that area of town. Once you see how easy it is to connect and travel with smart phone apps, your venturing forth into the other areas of Paris will be a grand adventure. A particular restaurant you may want to try is Seb'on, 62 Rue d'Orsel, 75018 Paris, France, which is near your hotel. Authentic, but reservations are recommended.
