I just want to thank the many contributors to this forum. My wife and I just returned from a France/Greece trip that was a wonderful experience. I read this forum a lot and apologize that I don’t feel like I contribute much. However, the information available here is incredibly helpful. I will offer this. It was very easy traveling in Paris, SW France, and Greece over the past three weeks. If anyone is having doubts about international travel, don’t worry and don’t let those doubts keep you from going if you can.
briananddonna, that's very nice of you to say! I doubt I contributed to your trip as it's been decades since I was in France and Greece but I know everyone here really appreciates fellow travelers reporting back and letting us know how things went. I'm so glad your trip went well!
To have the confidence and knowledge to travel on your own is very freeing and addictive. We reminisce about a trip we took to Prague, vienna, and Budapest from Croatia in 2002 with our teenage daughters, and compare it to how we travel now, we really say to ourselves - how did we pull that off. All by train, no Rick Steve’s forum to research for us, only guidebooks. We look at our picture album to remember.
Anyway, I digress. Hope you enjoy researching and planning, because it is addictive.
I agree. I come to the Forum daily. I don't always have something to contribute, but I read and absorb what the commenters have to say. I know it has increased my confidence and positive experiences when I travel. Have you written a travel report of your recent trip yet? I find them to be so helpful to me.
I also agree with this. I took my first solo overseas trip after reading, asking questions, more reading and more asking questions here. Then I did it again. Now I've now got a couple more trips planned and I'm thinking about all the other places I still want to see in Europe. This has been and continues to be an amazing resource to calm my worries and uncertainties. And to think, everyone does it just out of kindness, no one gets reimbursed for their knowledge, is simply awesome.
