Thalys payment options

I'll be booking some Thalys tickets soon. I tend to have trouble with my credit card when booking on sites that have the payment in Euros (this has happened twice with 2 different credit cards). Does anyone know if Paypal is an option on the Thalys website?

Does the Thalys website give that as a payment option? That is your answer.

I do not see it listed. Who knows, maybe my CC won't reject, but I think it will.
Has anyone used trainline.eu? They take paypal. They're prices are a bit higher than going direct through Thalys though.

If your cc is rejected, then either trainline.eu or raileurope.com are fine alternatives that will. Nobody can sell this ticket for a very different price without stating their fees.

Talk to your credit card company so that they don't block. Then use a different card, clear cookies or use a different computer. Once the card is rejected it may take 24 hours to be usable again. We have often had problems with cards (it isn't 'Euros' but just having a foreign card) and eventually manage to get the tickets each time. I usually use a different card on a different computer after having problems. Always have managed to get the tickets.

I've had great success with trainline.eu. Very easy to use. I'm surprised you're seeing higher prices -- I've always seen exact equivalent prices. But if you'd be paying higher fees with paypal anyway, it may not make any difference.

I used the NL and voyages.sncf apps.

But as someone mentioned, just call your credit card company and remove the block. That would be a good time to also give them your dates and destinations for your travel so that they will work when you are there.

The direct bookings in country (through apps is easiest in my experience) seem to give you the best price.

Yeah, I've used trainline.eu, or at least its predecessor captaintrain. Same price and easy credit card payment. SNCF uses 3-D Secure, which is why I switched. I don't know if Thalys uses 3-D secure, but a lot of national operators do, like Danish Rail and Austrian Rail.

Thalys uses 3D secure so I don't think I'll be able to go through them.
Trainline, has the trip I want from Paris to Bruges, but not from Bruges to Amsterdam (2 or 3 connections on that one and a lot more $$).
I'm nervous about using Raileurope.com. I've read a lot of bad reviews and people on TripAdvisor advise not to use it at all. I've read of people not receiving their tickets, and of people booking first class and receiving 2nd class seat assignments and there's nothing that can be done about it. Has anyone here used them successfully? I'm not sure what my other options are at this point.

I just booked my Thalys tickets from Amsterdam to Brussels on the NL app and my Brussels to Paris on voyages.sncf using my Chase visa. I called to unlock them from travel and both purchases when through just fine. The both did have the added visa protection, but there was no issue in the purchases.

FWIW, I purchased tickets via Rail Europe for Lyon, Reims and Brussels and had no problems with them.

Your milage may vary.

Sam, I can't use trainline because they don't have the trip I want from Bruges to Amsterdam.
I got in contact with SNCB (the Belgium rail) and they said I shouldn't have a problem purchasing from their website.
