Do you have to have reservations on the TGV Paris to Reims like on the long haul TGV routes?
Thanks
If it is a TGV of any duration - even Nice to Cannes or Antibes - or the TGV-Est from Gare de l'Est to Reims, all seats are reserved and you can only board the train with a reservation.
If you are trying to make that journey using a railpass, the further ahead you make that expensive reservation the better chance you have of getting on the service you prefer. TGV reservations are rationed for passholders, and if you wait too long you may find that the only way onto that particular service is by buying a full priced ticket.
Anybody buying a ticket for a TGV has the reservation built in.
This is unfortunately of the many disadvantages that railpasses have developed over the years....
TGV tickets from Paris to Reims are cheap.
I went a couple of weeks ago and the price was 15€ each way for tickets purchased just 2 days in advance.
Because we were a group of 3 we qualified for the MINI Group PREMs and only paid 10€ each way.
