TGV station near Hotel Du Champ De Mars + TGV question

Can someone tell me the stations nearest Hotel Du Champ De Mars to get the TGV. Also booking late and seeing things fill up. Not sure how this works. Should I try a different station - are there multiple trains but from different stations?

Thank you,
Julie

You do not get to select which train station to use. Paris has several mainline train stations: Gare St-Lazare, Gare du Nord, Gare de l'Est, Gare de Lyon, Gare d'Austerlitz, Gare Montparnasse and Gare de Bercy. Each serves a different area (with some small overlap for Montparnasse and Gare d'Austerlitz and Gare de Lyon and Bercy) -- for example, trains to Normandy leave from Gare St-Lazare. If you are purchasing your ticket from sncf.com/en or CaptainTrain.com you select Paris as your departure point and enter your destination and when the results pop up, you will see which of the train station that will be your departure point.

Thank you. Helpful! What is the difference between SNCF and CaptainTrain? CaptainTrain seems to have many more options for times on the date we want to travel.

What you need to do is to go here - http://www.seat61.com/ and go to the France section and get an initial grounding of how trains work in France . Like many other travelers , you are attempting to deal with the details before you have a grasp of the basics . Defining what a TGV is and does is one example , seat availability and pricing is another . To add to JHK's comments , when you go to the SNCF website you will enter Paris - toutes gares intramuros ( all stations ) as your departure point . , the computer will then choose the appropriate gare ( station )

SNCF is the French national railroad -- it runs the trains. Captain Train is a ticket-selling site for SNCF and trains in other countries. Some people find Captain Train easier to use.

Some people have had issues when trying to purchase through SNCF from the states and others have not. CaptainTrain is a bit more user friendly and works well for those of us in the states purchasing tickets. Voyages, http://en.voyages-sncf.com/en/, is another link/site associated with SNCF.
Enjoy your trip.

If your plan is to travel in April from Paris to Avignon, as suggested in your previous thread, then you'll leave from Paris Gare de Lyon. It's a popular route and has been on sale for a couple of months already, so try to complete your purchase soon, in order to snag one of the better rates.
