I'm traveling with a friend to France. She wants to take a TGV from Charles DeGaule Airport to Strasbourg. I want to spend a few days ahead of that in Paris. Is there a TGV from the airport that stops in the city that I can board to accompany her to Strasbourg?
No. CDG to Paris is just the RER B. You can take that out to CDG and meet your friend, assuming your friend is arriving at CDG airport. Otherwise frequent TGV's to Strasbourg from Paris Gare De L'Est.
Is there any chance you can convince your friend to spend her first night in Paris with you? It's always risky to plan to take a train after an international flight. If there's any flight delay (weather, mechanical) or even a long wait at passport or for luggage, you can miss the train. Then the tickets aren't valid and you have to buy expensive tickets for the next train . . . and hope there are seats available. I looked at the TGV website. The full-price tickets can be exchanged up until departure time. It says that "conditions apply" after that - but I couldn't figure out what the conditions are.
Are the two of you travelling to France together, on the same plane? Or are you meeting in France? If the latter, another alternative is to meet at your hotel in Strasbourg. There are TGV direct trains every hour or so from Gare de l'Est in central Paris to Strasbourg. Your friend can make her own arrangements from CdG.
If you want to meet at CdG, the advice above applies, with one more wrinkle. To sit together on the TGV to Strasbourg, one of you will buy both the tickets to make the mandatory seat reservations. So if her flight is delayed enough to miss that train, both of you will pay for the train revision.
I agree with the suggestions made above, get your friend to spend a night in Paris. The issues include clearing customs and making the connections from CDG to Gare de' l Este. Depending on the time of day the times will vary.
Also there is the question of will the flight arrive on time. Just for chuckles I once tracked times to Paris on an Air France non-stop flight the orientated here in Detroit. This is the simplest case since there are no other flight legs involved. It averaged 9 minutes late but was as much as 26 minutes early or 2 hours and 7 minutes late. To paraphrase a great philosopher, how lucky does your friend feel.
There are frequent trains from CDG to Strasbourg. They do not stop in Paris. I am confused by your question. Do you just want to ride on the train with your friend and get off 45 minutes later while she continues on to Strasbourg? That can't be done and why do you want to do that? If she is flying into Paris on Air France, she can purchase train tickets from CDG to Strasbourg as part of the "airfare." If she misses the train because the flight is late, Air France is obligated to put her on the next train.
