TGV eticket

Hi,

I purchased an eticket for the TGV on the SNCF website a couple of months ago using Paypal for travel in December. I printed out what I thought was the eticket but it has no barcode. Does it need to have a barcode? It has a file reference number and the details for the journey (seat assignments, time and date). When I go to the SNCF site (Manage Booking) and plug in the file reference number and my name, it says I do not have a booking even though it has been paid for 2 months ago. I'm not sure what to do. We will be travelling in France in a few weeks. I have contacted SNCF and am waiting for a response. Advice? Thanks.

Is there a QR code? This is what the conductor will use to scan the ticket. Is your info printed over top of a photograph which, on close inspection, also contains the info in a faint pattern, sort of like a bank note? That is what my last print-at-home TGV ticket looked like.

I'm not sure what a QR code is but I don't see anything on there that could be scanned. Per the SNCF website, I should have received an email confirmation. I did receive an email from Paypal confirming payment but that's it.

Crisis resolved. Phew!! I was looking for the email confirmation in my email and it was actually sent to my husband's email. I have now printed out the etickets with the barcodes. Good to go. Thanks for your prompt reply Sam. :)

Just to clarify, the e-ticket IS NOT the e-mail. It is a PDF file attached to the e-mail, which you have to print out.
Click here for an example: http://help.loco2.com/article/323-overlapping-e-ticket-for-tgv
Some super-cautious e-mail systems may block attached files, which causes problems.

The QR code which the conductor scans is the square dot-barcode-thing bottom right.

You can also get an e-ticket on a smart-phone, but I have not tried this myself, it is easy enough to print out a ticket.

Thanks for the info, Chris. I'm pretty sure I have the correct etickets now. They were pdf attachments to the email. They say "YOUR E-TICKET", have the bar (QR) code, coach, seat assignments, date and time. They are not obscured by any printing. I'm glad I rechecked these tickets before we got on the train and then subsequently kicked off.

A tip - Do not fold your ticket across any of the scannable sections . It has been noted by several of the European rail carriers that doing so could compromise the readability of the document . Not a difficult thing to manage , just take an extra bit of care .

Thanks for the tip Steven. We normally carry our documents in a folder and not folded.
