Hello. I have been monitoring train ticket prices and schedules from Avignon to CDG since a few days before the "90 day prior to departure" window opened. Doing the same thing I managed to get great prices on a different leg of our journey, but no luck with this section. Until about two days ago the header at the top of the search page said something along the lines of "all the trains on this day have not started selling tickets yet," so I have been diligently checking twice a day or more. Now that phrase is not appearing anymore, making me think they are now all on sale. At what point should I give up? Our day of travel is July 27.
Thanks!
It is quite likely that the low priced tickets went on sale in either March or April -- I forget which one. The SNCF has an early sale of tickets for summer travel to popular summer spots, including Avignon. I think that you should buy your tickets as soon as you can; prices are not going to go down. Are you checking for tickets on capitainetrain.com or SNCF.com/en? When I look at SNCF, I see trains with departures from CDG beginning at 6:58 am and ending at 7:28 pm and tickets are available for purchase on all of them and the same should be true for capitainetrain.com.
I did buy refundable tickets already, just in case I didn't find a better deal. I am using the SNCF site. I've also checked the other one a few times just in case. Thanks for replying.
Yes, tickets are definitely already on sale for all summer dates . . . so don't wait any longer!
At several price points, the site is already flashing "last few tickets at this price" for your date.
