Taxis to and from CDG

On our last 2 trips to Paris we had our hotel get us a Taxi back to CDG after we had taken the RER and Metro to get to the hotel. It was well worth the extra cost to not have to do this (especially after a previous trip when the RER to CDG was under maintenance and they had to get everyone there via buses). On our upcoming trip we are staying at an Air B&B and plan to use a Taxi to get into town and to go back to the airport. What we want to know is:
1. Is it easy and fast to grab a Taxi at CDG? We would likely arrive before 8:00 am.
2. Without a hotel to call our return Taxi, should we have our Air host arrange a Taxi, or should we use the G7 App that I have seen recommended in another forum? Merci!

Very easy to take a taxi from CDG. just follow the signs to the OFFICIAL taxi queue outside the terminal. Ignore any touts who try to lure you away from it. Fixed rates. To return, yes, just use G7.

  1. Yes it is easy to grab a taxi at CDG. Go to the official taxi stand. Do NOT accept rides from the people inside the terminal asking if you need a taxi. The cost from CDG to central Paris is a FIXED price. I believe it is now €62 to the Left Bank and €55 to the right bank. They are supposed to accept credit cards, but ask before you enter. Sometimes the drivers claim their CC machines are broken, but when you start to walk away, the CC now works. If you have 4 people and luggage, ask for a van.
  2. You can have your airBNB host call a taxi, or you can use the G7 app or the Uber app. Your choice.

I would use the G7 app to arrange for my taxi back to the airport. Why ask the host? What if they forget to do it or do not want to do it?

As a reminder if you use the G7 App, call them or book online there is about a 7 Euro fee for the reservation.

Enjoy your trip.

Good advice above. Wanted to add that it’s a really good idea to have the name and address of your lodgings written down, ready to show the taxi driver at the airport. The name of my hotel sounded a lot like that of one of the museums, so my taxi driver was at a loss until I wrote it down. Also, when you’re going to the airport, be sure you know which terminal.

The G7 app worked great for us on Christmas day from the Latin Quarter to Charles de Gaulle. I would recommend booking a week in advance.

G7 has an English-speaking line. It’s 01 41 27 66 99. Be sure to call them a day ahead.

Once you're at your Airb&b, look around. You'll likely see several nearby taxi stands, or wander towards hotels and you'll see them. Paris is full of them. It's quite simple to walk up to the lead cab and ask for the airport.

I would not depend on finding a taxi at a taxi stand for a trip to the airport. I could be unlucky but I have seen many empty taxi stands. That being said, the stand at Place Vendome, the Bastille one and the one near Odeon metro seem to usually have taxis. Here is a list of the taxi stands in Paris: https://www.taxinews.fr/stations-de-taxis/. You can also find the official map of stands at https://www.paris.fr/pages/taxis-51.

Taxi stands except for a few in very high traffic areas rarely have cabs. Absolutely don't leave it last minute for an airport ride. It is not always easy to get one last minute to the airport. After cabs were not available the night before a couple of years ago, I have come to book 2 or 3 days ahead for the return trip. I call G7 on their English speaking line, but you can also make the arrangements on line.

They have never failed to be there waiting about 5 minutes before the time set.

At the airport avoid anyone who asks if you need a taxi, the official line often has footprints in the floor leading to the line, but is in any case well signed. We came in yesterday and immigration was a mess and took over 90 minutes, but we had zero wait for a cab. We were behind one family. They were directed to a van and we then to another cab and there were several cabs waiting. It is very smooth.

They should put the fee, in my case 62 Euro, on the meter when you get in. Give them your address written down including postal code so there is no confusion about where you are going.
