Taxis in Paris

We will be getting into Paris about 2:30PM and are wondering is there is a set charge to travel into Paris from the taxis that wait in the cue or can they charge you for time as well as miles. We are pretty sure there will be much traffic and was wondering if it would be best to secure transportation form one of the outfits that give you a set price and meet you at the airport. Has anyone used that type of service. We will be staying at an apartment in the 7e.

Jerry & Stelly,
As stated above, taxis in Paris charge a flat rate to transport passengers to/ from CDG.
The 7e is on the Left Bank, so you should be charged the flat rate of €55.
Make sure you have the complete address of the apartment written out for the taxi driver.

We took a taxi to CDG a couple of weeks ago & paid €55, plus €7 ( fee for advance reservation).
Our taxi driver was very nice, so I gave her an extra tip too. Upon questioning, she explained that each time she drives someone to the airport, she waits in the taxi queue at least a couple of hours, before heading back to the city with other passengers.
Make sure you line up at the taxi queue outside of the terminal & wait to board a legit taxi.

We've always taken the RER/Metro or the Air France bus (now with a different name) from CDG to Paris, but from reading other posts, it seems that there is no need to book transportation going FROM the airport (going to the airport might be a different story); the fare is set, and there are plenty of taxis. The bus will be cheaper (at least if there are only 2 people), but, of course, it has to go through the same traffic as a taxi, and won't take you right to your hotel. The RER/Metro is even cheaper still, and can be faster, but if you have a lot of luggage it can be tricky.

Yes -- no reason to arrange FROM the airport; always arrange a cab a day ahead for returning TO the airport.

The flat rates are good for 4 passengers and their luggage. They are good going to and from both airports - Orly is 30 or 35 EU, depending on address.
There's really no need to pay more than the flat fees when coming from the airports.

Hand the driver the complete printed address of your destination - include the Postal Code - so there won't be any confusion. If the driver helps with the luggage, you might give him a small tip - up to 5 EU for CDG, up to 3 EU for Orly. Drivers know that Americans like to tip big, but it's not necessary in Paris - don't feel guilty.

If you want to book a cab ahead for the return trip, you can call G7 Taxis - online or English-speaking operators - but there will be a small service charge added to the regular flat fee for the convenience.

Thank you all for that information. We will be where the 7e and 15e meet and we have the address and zip code.

Thanks again for responding.
