Sorry for the duplication, I know this has been asked before, but I can’t seem to find it in the travel forum postings. I just want to confirm that the taxis at the Paris airport take credit cards? Thanks everyone.
yes, official taxis are required to take credit cards. not all of them like to but they're legally required to.
And no worries about asking. There was a glitch in the search engine on this site today, and so it's been hard to find just about anything. :-)
Thanks, much appreciated.
Verify when you are getting in. Some go a bit rogue after the fact which happened to us a couple of visits ago. We had euros and were jet lagged so we paid cash.
Taxi Parisien drivers are required to accept specifically Visa and Mastercard or equivalents (Carte Bleu). They are not required to accept AE or Discover.
The fares are fixed for direct travel between Paris (not other parts of the Ile de France) and CDG/ORY. The only possible add-on to the fixed fare is when there are 5 to 7 total passengers, each passenger, after four, is charged 5.50€. There are no luggage fees, no heavy traffic fees, no CC processing fees.
If you ever have a problem with a driver, copy the taxi identifier found on a sticker attached to the left, rear window, and file a complaint with the préfecture de police.
Just did it
I always have my hotel address on a piece of paper and show the driver my credit card. Never had any problems
I realize you are asking about credit cards, but confirming that you are aware to follow the signs within the airport to the official taxi line (not letting anyone sideline you by telling you they can take you, etc.) Also, it's a fixed rate price depending on right or left bank.
We've never had anything but a professional experience with clean cars, excellent drivers, computer screens/gps, credit cards, etc.
Also, when needing a taxi other than from the airport, use the G7 official Paris taxi app. (It's user friendly/familiar like the Uber app) Official taxi's can use the bus lanes and get around quickly.
As mentioned, follow the signs to the official taxi stand. We had 2 ‘drivers’ approach us before we got to the taxi stand. Just ignore them.
Thanks for all the responses!
