Will there be taxis available for hire from CDG airport in early August?
ellenscr, I find your multiple questions about getting from CDG into Paris amusing -- keep them coming. Yes, there are taxis available in Paris in August. Why would you think that there are not?
Most catch the train into Gard du Nord train station . There they might get a taxi to their hotel if the hotel is not close to a metro stop.
If there are 2 or more people, you aren't going to save any money taking the train and then taking a cab from Nord. You have to schlep the luggage, you expose yourself to pickpockets when you are tired and have all your stuff and you save maybe 10 Euro or so. It is only 50 or 55 Euro from CDG door to door for 4 people and their luggage. And why wouldn't there be taxis in August?
maybe they might decide to goon strike in August
Sure, they might go on strike but couldn't that happen any month of the year? And would they let people know now that they are planning to strike in August?
Also, @ David, how do you know that most people catch a train to Gare du Nord? I am not picking a fight. I am just wondering if there are statistics on this somewhere.

sorry; i was being facetious
Yes, there will be taxis available for hire from CDG airport in early August.
Unless there is some kind of strike planned, there will be Taxis in early August.
Just get in line with the other folks...
I take the RER B train from CDG to Gare du Nord. I've seen more tourists take the RER from Nord to CDG than vice versa, if that's suppose to mean anything.
There is a queue, sometimes long, for taxis at Gare du Nord every day of the year. Glare at any freelance annoyance inside the station; glare and say no way in any language you choose to the most persistent hustlers. The official flat rate is 50 euro right bank, 55 euro left bank. No luggage surcharge; a small extra fee for more than four passengers. And no meter. Tip if the driver is helpful with the bags, but not required.
Yes, tipping not the norm locally and not required. I had an arm in a cast and the cabbie was very helpful hauling bags from the apartment lobby and getting us a cart for the bags at the airport -- i.e. above and beyond. I gave him 5 Euro which would be much less than an adequate tip in the US but is on the high side in Paris and he was visibly thrilled. No tip is fine when it is just a trip; a couple of Euro is okay if the cabbie is particularly helpful with bags and such or provides a little tourist commentary on the trip or something.
To me, in a jet lagged state, I always take a taxi from CDG to Paris. I'm not gonna mess with the train and metro even with just a carry-on.
Are you flying from the US? If so, after you go thru Immigration, baggage claim and customs, you come out of the secure area and you'll run a gauntlet of people holding up signs for people they are meeting. Once you get out in to the area past them men may come up to you and ask if you need a taxi. Ignore them and follow the signs out to the Taxi Rank. The employee at the head of the line will point you to a taxi when it is your turn.

The flat rate quoted above is for taxis from CDG not Gare du Nord. There is no flat rate from Gare du Nord.
That's right - there is no connection for a flat fee for any train stations, including Gare du Nord.
You do not have to "glare" at anybody in the queue. Just be quick to get in a cab.
It depends on where in Paris you are going. I've spent about 22 EU to get home in the 3rd.
You can get an idea of the fare here, the middle range is usually accurate:

A cane might come in handy, though. The agent will get you in a cab "tout de suite".
Hi ellen, I’ve used shuttle services in the past but the last few trips I just got in the taxi line. No problems at all. One tip, write the address of your hotel on a card or slip of paper and give it to the driver. Have fun!
This is a very odd question to say the least.
Paris is the largest city in the country, France that gets the most tourists in the world ; not to mention a large amount of business travelers and that CDG is a huge airport ; 2nd busiest in all of Europe.
How on earth could they not have taxis running in August?
