Taxi to Paris from CDG?

Can anyone share, any info that you might have on this topic?

We are a group of 3, Myself, my wife and my best friend.

We will be traveling to the Opera Area of Paris.
We have 3 small suitcases, and 3 small carry ons.
Should we expect to pay the standard 50 Euros, for the trip into Paris from CDG?

Should we trip the cabbie extra because of the number of people and bags?

Thanks for any shared information.

Yes, 50. Yes, I tip a couple of euros for cab drivers. Sometimes if we’ve been in bad jams I give more and DH rolls his eyes, but I have a soft spot for cabbies struggling to make an honest living. Someone’s going to come on here and tell you that for 30 you can have 3 Roissybus tickets to Opera, but the taxi is door-to-door. Your call.

You could also use the car service Paris Webservices, recommended in the RS guide to Paris. We used them. You get a discount if you show them your copy of the RS guidebook. They have contingency plans for notifying your driver if your flight is delayed. Our driver spoke fluent English, the car was nice and new and clean, and the overall experience was very pleasant.

It is 50 Euro by cab for 4 people and luggage; no extra fees. I would not tip unless the cab driver does some extra service.

Roissy bus would be about 36 for 3 people. I'd take a cab.

With three people, I'd take a cab. The Roissybus will get you there, but buying the ticket, waiting for it to run, and getting your luggage off and on might be more than you're willing to take on after a long flight. We don't do it anymore.

If you aren't familiar with mass transit - ie, coach services as in Roissy Bus - I would take a taxi.
You find the overhead signs and wait in line. No luggage fees apply.

Remember that the taxi driver always stays in his vehicle, unless he's loading your luggage.
50 EU would cover the cost of the the 3 passengers. A 2 or 3 EU tip would be appropriate.

Three people plus two pieces of luggage apiece equals a taxi every time. Fixed rate, door to door, no hassles with unfamiliar public transit system. If the driver loads and unloads the luggage a two or three Euro tip would not be out of line.

50 Euros divided by 3 is a little less than €17 per person.

For the Roissybus to be "one-tenth the price", it would have to cost a little less than €1.70 per person.

It does not.

It costs €13.20 per person. Not even near to "one-tenth the price" in your situation, not even 5€ savings per person in your situation. And you have to go find the Roissybus and go by its schedule, and then depending on the order of terminals, visit some before arriving at your own.

With three people, a taxi is clearly better value (all other things being equal of course, i.e., no strikes by taxi drivers or road crashes or RER problems etc)

Plus, the taxi driver can use the dedicated bus lanes to get to Paris faster.

the more people, the more a taxi becomes the only sensible choice. I remember 20 years ago coming from Orly to Paris with our daughter. We had friends who also came in at Orly. They paid more to take then very inconvenient public transport and then walk several blocks with luggage to our hotel than we paid to take the cab door to door.
