Taxi to Malmaison

My husband and I have about 4 hours total, from leaving for the RER in Paris to getting back to Paris, to take a quick trip to Malmaison. We plan to take the RER A to La Defense and take a taxi to the Chateau to avoid confusion and save time. It's only about a 12 minute trip according to Google, so I wouldn't think it would be that expensive. We would just take the bus, but don't want to waste time looking for it, because we have a reservation to get back to in Paris, which is already paid for. I've heard it can be confusing to find bus 258 on the way there, but easy to find going back. Has anyone taken the taxi from La Defense to Chateau Malmaison? Just wondering how much it will cost us. Thanks!

Sandy

Sandy - I'm sorry I don't know the cost but considering you only have a few hours, I would definitely take a taxi. Be sure to check opening/closing hours as it does close for lunch.

The line RER A direction La Defense has a branche A1 (Saint-Germain-en-Laye) that goes further to station Rueil-Malmaison. From there you can take a taxi, it’s a bit more then 2km to Château de Malmaison. I know it’s best to stay with your plan if you have the best feeling about it, I’m just thinking about this likely cheaper option. For the ticketprice of the RER train it doesn't make a difference as it is in the same zone (3) as La Defence. Btw very nice museum, I visited it last spring, but used my own car to get there.

Sandy, it is dead easy to find the buses at La Defence. Follow the signage and you will reach the bus terminal. It is about a 3 minute walk. Look for the sign for No. 258 and park yourselves at that spot. In due course the 258 will appear.
