Is the fare from the left bank to CDG set at € 55, the same as coming from CDG? I plan to arrange a taxi through my hotel. Thank you for your help.
Many hotels will get a car and charge a good deal more. A taxi arranged the night before is 55 plus 7 reservation fee. If you ask the hotel expect it to cost more as they hose you with their kickbacks and private arrangements.
As Janet stated there is an additional fee for reservations. You can do it yourself either by calling, English speaking staff, online or through G7's App. G7 Taxi: https://www.g7.fr/en/
Enjoy your trip.
Taxi fees are the same, whether you are coming or going from CDG. The only difference is if you are going to the Left Bank vs the Right Bank. There is a difference of 5 EU between the Left and Right Banks.
You should go online and book the taxi yourself with G7 Taxis.
There is an approach fee of 4 EU as well as a 7 EU reservation fee which will be added to the flat fee. If you have more than 4 passengers, each will be charged an additional 4 EU in addition to the flat fee.
Hotels are notorious for padding taxi fees. Do it yourself, and you'll save quite a lot of money.
If you do not have too much luggage and don't mind using the metro there is a line that will take you directly into terminal 2E at CDG. I believe it is the RER B line, but would double check that. I think the cost of that would be about 10 Euros.
I would agree the RER B is a simple and way less costly method to get to the airport. It is also non traffic dependent. RS has all the info on how to do it easily in his Paris book.
You pay either the approach fee OR the reservation fee. The approach fee is for a called taxi; the reservation fee is for one booked the day before -- which you need to do for an airport run.
Thank you all for these replies. I'll check out your suggestions and decide what would work best for us. We travel light, so luggage is not an issue, but wonder about the stairs in the metro. Any thoughts would be appreciated.
There is one metro line where all the stops are wheel chair accessible. One of our guests toured Paris with our help. There are a few websites with info on this, but I would need to refresh my memory / research to give you specifics. Some of the other lines have escalators or elevators but these are widely scattered. Once arriving at CDG both are available but the elevators are sometimes a little hard to spot.
The 14 line is accessible; most are not. If there is any question of being able to walk up and down stairs easily with luggage then get a cab. It is almost impossible to avoid stairs in the metro and escalators are often out of order. We even encountered the elevator at Abbesses one of the deepest stop in Paris out of order last year when we were there. We only had to walk down several hundred steps, but it would have been a real bummer to have to walk up them with luggage.
Thanks janettravels44! We will definitely be taking a taxi from the airport, since I had already read about stairs in the metro and going up stairs with even light luggage isn't fun. On returning to CDG, we could take RER B from the Luxembourg stop. Stairs are not generally a problem for either of us, but I just wanted to check things out ahead of time, if possible. Everyone's comments are appreciated.
A side note, the RER is NOT a Metro line. It's a rail line intended mainly for commuters to/from the suburbs. Passes may not apply, but everyone rides it in from CDG.
Good info. I was about to ask this question myself, but now I don't have to.
Anyone know if there is a surcharge for an extremely early AM taxi? I will have a 7AM flight home, which probably means a 4:30AM taxi.
Flat rates are in effect, no matter what time of day you will be going to either airport.
If you intend to book ahead with G7Taxis, there will be a 7 EU reservation charge added to the flat fee.
It is not advisable to have your hotel book a taxi for you, since there will be more fees attached.
It is highly unlikely that you would find taxis roving the streets or even any taxis at a taxi stand, at that hour.
4:30 am taxi--confirm that someone is on duty at your hotel and you can get out at that hour. This may seem crazy but one poster was surprised when he couldn't get the hotel door open from the inside during the wee hours and no one was around to help. He missed his train.
Since you will be leaving so early, it will only take you about 30 - 45 minutes travel time to CDG.
I would respect any advice the airline gives regarding check in time, however.
