We will be in monmarte and leaving for a very early am flight. Does anyone recommend a certain taxi service??
Thank you
Karen
Call G7 - an official Paris Taxi company - the night before. They have an English speaking dispatcher at
01 41 27 66 99. They are very reliable, but you need to be curbside at least 5 minutes before their scheduled arrival time. There is a 7€ dispatch fee, but the flat rate of 50€ from the Right Bank to CDG will apply, assuming you have no more than 4 passengers. Keep in mind, you need to be at the airport at least 3 hours prior to a transatlantic flight and you need to allow at least 45 minutes for the taxi ride.
For a very early flight, my choice is to stay at one of the hotels at the CDG Terminal the night before. There are several to choose from, including Ibis, Novotel, Hilton, and Sheraton. There is a free subway shuttle connecting the terminals.
Be sure to factor in ONE HOUR MINIMUM just for getting through passport control. So three hours minimum before your flight to ARRIVE at YOUR TERMINAL is a good start.
If you are leaving before 6:30 AM, I would plan on an hour travel time.
Call G7 Taxis the night before departing. They will send an SMS giving the color and make of car that will pick you up.
There are no luggage fees for items in the trunk.
Follow your airline's recommendations for check-in time and add one hour to that.
Thanks for all the help
We just got back from Paris this week. We left our apartment in downtown at 9am for a 12:30 flight and just barely made it to the terminal on time for boarding. Maybe it will be better earlier in the morning, but it would have been less stressful if we had allowed a full three hours at the airport pre take off time.
We took a taxi from our hotel in Montparnasse at about 8:50am and got to the airport in plenty of time for the 12:35pm flight. The driver went through the city rather than the surrounding highway and it took him about an hour to get us to the airport.
If you have an early am flight, you likely will not need to deal with rush hour traffic. Planning for 45 mins to 1 hr drive should be fine.
I've read that the G7 taxi service is good. I suspect, though, that most official taxis should be fine.
If you are staying in a hotel, they may be able to call a taxi for you.
Best of luck.
Two words come to mind: TRAVEL BAN.
Be prepared for long lines, thanks to the US President...
