Taxi time Rue Cler to CDG

I'm flying out of CDG after the RS Paris tour on Saturday, Sept 3.

I've arranged with the Hotel de Londres Eiffel to have a car service take me to the airport.

My flight leaves at 4:10 p.m. Paris time -- and my car service is scheduled to pick me up at the hotel at 1:00 p.m. Looking at Google maps, if there is traffic, they estimate at 45 min trip on A1, meaning I will arrive at CDG (hopefully!) around 2:00 p.m. Is this cutting it too close? Anyone have any personal experience with this? Any advice much appreciated. I've learned a great deal from all of the posters on the France section of the forum.

Where is your flight going? Internal within Europe and the UK, a couple of hours should do.

International, especially to North America, I wouldn't risk less than 3.

SLD,
We were adviced to arrive at CDG at least 3-4 hours before our flight's departure time (International flight back to the US)

Our taxi took about an hour to travel from the city center (with some heavy traffic) to our terminal.

We actually arrived almost 4 hours before our flight & enjoyed a nice, relaxed meal after waiting in multiple LONG LINES ( baggage check -in, passport control & security)

I'd suggest arriving at the airport no later than 1pm, so your taxi should pick you up no later than 12 noon.
I like to get to the airport early & not take any chances, so I'd probably schedule a taxi pick up at 11am, but that's just what I'd do.

Enjoy!

Absolutely good advice just above. Your pick up time is way too late if your flight is to the US, You need to leave at noon from Paris for a 4 pm flight. It has always been bad at CDG -- we have literally had to run for a plane when getting there 3 hours ahead because of terrible line management. (we once had AA personnel just put a long line of people in ahead of the line we had already been standing in for an hour) Sometimes you get through quickly and have time for coffee and shopping, but sometimes 3 hours is a squeeze. On two occasions we didn't even have time to run to the bathroom before boarding.

I would not book with Hoyle car service I am sure it is far more expensive then taxi. Taxi has a SET price of 55 euros now. Call G7 taxi night befor and book a taxi for noon. G7!is a reputable taxi company that speaks English !

The people managing my hotel in Paris deny that there is a set charge for taxi service to the airport. I took taxis to/from CDG and a hotel in the 4th (right bank) recently. Both times,I,agreed to a 50€ set fee. In both cases. (30 min, and 45 min.)"I might have done better using.the,meter.,, Taxi rides from the 7th (left bank) would probably take longer. I would allow at least an hour.

Agree, no advantage to a car service vs taxi. I did both this summer and the car just cost way more. Agree with an earlier departure as traffic can grind to a halt anytime in Paris. Consider 11 AM. Breath easy, have a decent lunch at CDG.

Curious: does it make a difference if you are flying from CDG to another Europe airport and then onto the US on the same ticket?
Is this considered the same as an International flight directly to the US?
In my case flying on Aer Lingus from CDG to Boston with a 2 hour, 30 minute layover in Dublin.

First of all, thank you everyone!!
Nigel, sorry for the omission of where I'm going -- I'll be heading back to the US -- I live in Pennsylvania.
After more digging on this forum, I was getting more and more nervous, thinking I would not have enough time to get my bag checked (I have limited motion in my one shoulder, hence lifting a bag into an airplane overhead bin is a challenge), clear security and find the gate!
The cost of the taxi/car service is 60 euros, which I thought was reasonable.
I will definitely move the time of my departure up to 11:00 or 11:30 a.m. just to be on the safe side.
Thank you all again, the info is so helpful!

A private car service or shuttle service may set their rates as they please.
Only Parisian taxis must adhere to the flat rates for trips to and from CDG and ORY.

We used G7 Taxi from the Latin Quarter to CDG last week. I called a day ahead of time and scheduled the pickup at our apartment. G7's agent spoke perfect English. The cab showed up right on time the next morning. The cab was clean and the lady driver was very friendly and helpful. She informed us that the trip to CDG would be 40 minutes. She expertly wove the cab though mid-morning traffic and we arrived at the airport in 38 minutes. She helped us unload our bags and pointed to the airline counter. The meter showed 62 Euros, which is about what I expected, and we were completely satisfied with the service. However, her credit card machine would not process either of our chip and sign cards, so I paid her in cash. I wonder if the non-working credit card machine is a ploy used by taxi companies to collect cash and avoid credit card fees?

Not usually. Some accounts don't seem to recognize foreign cards - it wasn't AX, was it? Taxis are supposed to accept credit cards as of May 2016, but some don't seem to have their act together.
As of May 2016, the flat rates have been in effect. 50 or 55 EU from CDG depending on which bank of the river you're going to, and 30 or 35 from ORY in the same circumstances.
G7 Taxis adds a legal approach fee of 7 EU to the flat fees.
If there are more than 4 passengers, the driver must legally charge 4 EU/per extra passenger.
No charge for luggage.

Replying to chexbres, I tried both my AMEX and VISA cards. Both are Chip and Sign Cards, which we used in Germany, Holland, Belgium and France -- mostly restaurants -- for the three weeks we were in Europe. And the driver did not show me the screen on her little reader that showed it was really not going through. Restaurants that accepted our card(s) for the most part refused to add the tip to the charge, because as one waiter explained, anything recorded was subject taxes, so we tipped in cash. I agree with the next post that card rejection is a ploy to avoid reporting revenues. Not a big deal for us, as we ensured we had enough Euros to cover our bill should our card be rejected

Yes, it does make a difference. This departure from CDG is considered a flight to Dublin, not a flight to the US. So, use Aer Lingus's recommendations for how early to get to the airport.

You have a good amount of layover time, since you will go through US immigration and customs in Dublin. Your arrival in Boston will be like a domestic arrival.
