Taxi or Car Service from CDG to Left Bank

Flying into De Gaulle; we're big fans of public transit in Paris but not from the airport to our hotel. Car services are about 15 euros more than the standard taxi fare; wondering if anyone has experienced long lines waiting for taxis from the airport or if you've seen other advantages to booking a car in advance.

josephthetaxguy,
Taxi lines move fast. Dion't waste your money on a car service.

As Judy says, the lines move very fast. They may look daunting when you first get to the line, but there are lots of taxis just waiting to be whistled up to the head of the line. Don't waste your money and hassle on booking a car in advance.

Don't remember the name of the car service we used at CDG. But, the driver was late showing up, so will take a taxi next time. Use only the official taxi rank and avoid the independent drivers who might approach you in the terminal.

Hi guys--thanks for the rapid-fire replies; much appreciated. I think we were a little traumatized by the lines we encountered the last time we flew into JFK--at least a 30-minute wait for a cab--so the perspective is quite useful.

Took a taxi from CDG to 6th arrondissement yesterday. It was so easy. Easy to find. Well organized. The line was short and quick. It actually seems very unnecessary to get a car service and a bit harder to navigate. The taxi line is so straight forward. Follow the signs to the taxi line. The ride was comfortable and he gave us quite a scenic drive. It’s all a flat rate price.

I have flown into CDG many, many times. I have never waited 30 minutes for a taxi. The only times I have waited more than a couple of minutes was when I was in a group of five. Even when the line is long, the wait is short. And the private shuttle will probably be parked further away than the taxi line.

Our last two Paris trips, last fall and this Monday, there was zero wait for a taxi. We literally just walked to the line and were directed to a cab. The most I have waited for a cab at CDG was maybe 15 minutes. And the cabs are right at the terminal you don't have to walk a long distance as you do with a car service. If a car service doesn't show they will tell you they were there and you weren't and keep your money.
