Taxi from Gare de Lyon station to our hotel

We will be arriving by high speed train and want to easily get to our hotel near Notre Dame with our luggage. I am thinking about just hailing or getting a taxi at the station without any advanced plan.

What do I need to know to make this happen without problems.

I believe you can just get a taxi from the official taxi line. Of course, ignore anyone approaching you and offering you a taxi. They will take you for a ride..

The taxis are right outside the station on Place Louis Armand.

Be ready to wait a little, though. The taxi rank at Gare de Lyon is not the best. But once on the taxi, it is a really quick ride.

Yeah, you may have to wait as Balso said. My son was there yesterday and he ended up waiting about 10 minutes for a taxi.

You might want to check to see if your hotel is served by metro line 14 which has elevators and escalators or by the RER D or A which are also accessible -- if so then just take the train to your destination. I think line 1 is also accessible at most stops but would check that if you want to take that.

The taxi line was huge at around 5 pm last week, I can confirm. I ended up taking an Uber which pickup up across the street.

I’ve used my Uber app. In a busy area it has literally said “there’s one 2 minutes away”.
