taxi between colmar and kaysersberg

I am wondering how I can take a short visit to Kaysersberg without a rental car. I will be in Switzerland for 15 days, and am thinking of taking a train from Basel to Colmar, then spending a night in Kaysersberg so as not to be rushed too much because I will have to work with the schedule of public transportation.

While reading through some posts in this forum, I came across one reference to taking a taxi between Colmar and Kaysersberg. Can someone please shed more light about this? This is what I am imagining I will have to do:
1. Day 1 - arrive at the Colmar train station (from Basel), and
2. take a taxi (or bus?) to my Kaysersberg hotel; stay there for the night;
3. Day 2 - with luck, catch a bus that will take me back to the Colmar train station for trip back to Basel;
if no such luck, take a taxi to take me back to Colmar train station.
Questions: Is taking a taxi easily manageable? How does one get taxi service? What is the cost of the trip between Colmar and Kaysersberg?

Thank you for your help.

I hope you can find a way to make this work as Kaysersberg is a lovely wine village. Birthplace of Dr. Albert Schweitzer and the site of WWII battle.

Why don't you just take a bus to Kaysersberg from Colmar station? They are fairly regular. Or you can get a taxi from the front of the station. I'd budget 50 EUR if taking a taxi.

Thanks, Sam. That's the first thought I had: take a bus. But I got the idea from other posts that taking a bus from Kaysersberg to return to Colmar is not quite that dependable for a casual visitor, because the buses there run according to the schedule of the school students.

And are there taxis stationed in Kaysersberg, does anyone know? Or do they have to be dispatched from Colmar?

Thanks for your input.

Not true. Bus runs on a regular schedule. Here is the schedule.

If you are not used to French bus timetables, I'll add some notes.
No buses on Sunday.
Annee means runs year round, Scol means only school days.
LMaMeJVS means Monday through Saturday, LMaMeJV means Monday through Friday.

So there are buses in the morning from Colmar Gare (train station) at 6:40, 8:40, 11:15, 12:10
Return buses from Kaysersberg Porte Basse (lower gate) at 6:05, 8:00, 10:10, 1:05 pm, 2:20 pm
Bus fare is 3.95 EUR each way.

Sam, thanks for sharing this Colmar bus timetable, and for your other tips. Let me see how I can mesh the Colmar bus and the Basel train schedules to make the most of my visit to Kaysersberg.

Leave yourself a good 30 minutes between the train arrival and bus departure. I bought my bus tickets at the tourist office inside Colmar station, and they were very helpful. The bus stop is actually about 100 meters to the left as you walk out the main station entrance, across the street.
