Taxi and Uber question Paris

Hello all is taxi and Uber easy to use with 4 adults? Do you recommend pre booking? I have read it will be okay with 4 people and luggage from CDG in taxi line but what about short distances 10-15 drive within city? We will probably use Metro also but just wondering how it will work with our group size. If anyone has used a car service to and from CDG I’d love recommendations. Thank you.

Lots of taxis won't take 4 passengers; the cabbie uses the front seat as his office or just feels safer from COVID and assault with passengers not up with him. It is no issue from the airport -- they will probably put you in a van cab, but just hailing one one on the street or picking one up at a taxi stand maybe less easy.

Taxis are just better from the airport than car services who have to park distantly and then if your plane is late may not wait, or if it is early. may not be there -- the taxi line is always there and efficient. And the fixed price is great 53 to right and 58 to left bank (there may have been a recent price adjustment as there has been with the metro). no tipping necessary or expected.

Returning to the airport (early flight back to the US, laden with French souvenirs), we always treat ourselves to a car. Bolt arrives quickly and is always about 10% cheaper than Uber.

Inbound, we RER. Fast, inexpensive, and fun!

My husband and I used Uber to get to CDG last May. They came to pick us up at 5:30 am. If you enter the number of passengers I’m sure they would send a suitable vehicle.

I usually take a taxi from the regular taxi line at the airport and book one for my return trip but I have used and do recommend Shuttle Inter. It will cost 80€ for four people from CDG to a location in Paris. A taxi will cost either 53€ or 58€ from CDG to your destination and assuming that you reserve it ahead of time and additional 7€ plus either 53€ or 58€ for the trip from Paris to CDG.

Where we live in the south I take Bolt because taxis we have only a few and they're booked up. But in Paris, it's taxis that do the job well. Taxis have access to fast lanes and airport parking/pick up that the others don't have.

I've used Uber and the G7 taxi's around Paris. G7 you can also book ahead of time from their App, online or calling them. They do have English speaking personnel for the reservations, if that is required. They charge a 7 Euro reservation fee.

BOLT is another service similar to Uber that is available in Paris, however after they dropped/canceled our pick up twice within a mile of reaching us I no longer trust them.

Enjoy your trip.

As a family of 4, we travelled via taxi a few times and it always had to be a minivan when we were bringing luggage. From CDG, we just used the main taxi line. Tell the attendant you have 4 people and they will direct you to a minivan. On the way back to CDG, we had our hotel arrange a van taxi in advance. It was a full size van.

Within the city, we took a taxi once. The front seat was being used as an “office” plus booster seat, so it was a bit awkward waiting for the driver to clear it out. This was pre-Covid.

The CDG to Paris fixed fares just increased, rather significantly, to 55€/62€ to the Right/Left Bank respectively. The additional passengers charge increased to 4.50€. The last price increase was early last year, so many are looking at the alternatives.

From the airports, taxis do not charge the dispatch fee 4€/7€ but to the airports they do (unless you walk to a taxi stand). From the airports, drivers understand that parties of 4 or more are very common, so the fronts seats are now very available.

For travel within Paris or to the airports, if I do not use public transportation, I contact Bolt or FreeNow using theirs apps.

Tocard, thanks for the info on the Feb 1 price hike for the fixed-rate taxis. I hadn't seen that yet. Noted !
