Taking the bus from Nice to NCE - questions

On a Saturday morning in early October, I will need to get from the Mercure Marché aux Fleurs on the Quai des Etats-Unis to NCE Terminal 1. I’ve been reviewing the Lignes d’Azur website, and it looks like the #98 bus is the way to go. It appears that the closest stop (Gustave V) is in front of Le Méridien hotel/casino, roughly five or six blocks west of the hotel on the Promenade des Anglais.

So that the bus actually stops to let me on, would I stand next to the bus stop sign, or would I stand at the curb? Do I need to flag the bus? I gather that the fare to the airport is six euros paid to the driver, and the journey takes roughly 40 minutes. (My flight to LHR is at 1150, and I assume I should be at NCE two hours prior, so I should catch a bus around 9:00.)

Can anyone confirm for me that I’ve got all of this right? I’m having a little bit of trouble confidently interpreting all the info on the website, even though I’ve got the English option turned on!

Bus 98 will be your best bet and the most affordable option. They run about 3 times every hour and they will be used to travelers waiting with their bags at each stop (usually a sign on a post). I'd wave at them to stop just to play it safe but if for some reason you can't get one to stop (which I really don't expect to happen) you can take a taxi for about 35 Euros.

Hi Teresa,

I believe you are going on the Loire/So. France tour, correct? Are you leaving on the last day or staying longer? You may be able to arrange a taxi with other tour members. I did this with 3 others and it cost us about 8 or 9 euros each. Not bad since they picked us up in front of the hotel. Your tour guide will help arrange this. Even if you are staying an extra day, you may still find someone to share with as many tour members on my tour did this. :)

Have fun!

Hi, Gretchen. Yup, you're right. I'll be staying the day the tour ends (hope to bus to Monaco) and leaving the next morning. I know the guide will usually pass around a "who's leaving when" sheet, and I'd be more than happy to share a taxi to the airport, but I figure I'd better know how to get there on my own too! :)
