Taking public transportation from Versailles to Reims?

We will be going from the town of Versailles to Reims on Sunday, August 18 and having looked at how to do this on public transportation we could use some guidance from anyone who has done this (recently or with current information). What is the most efficient option on public transportation? We would like to arrive in Reims late morning. Thank you so much for any and all help!

Hi,
17 Aug is a Saturday, but it doesn't change much: the period is full on engineering works.

The only viable option at this date is from Versailles Chantiers station: suburban train (Transilien N) to Paris Montparnasse, then long transfer (10 min) to metro line 4 to Gare de l'Est, then TGV to Reims.

Other normally-available options are not recommended because
- departing from Versailles Chateau Rive Gauche, the RER C line is closed for engineering works in Paris
- departing from Versailles Rive Droite, the Transilien L line gets you to Paris Saint Lazare, but the RER E to get to Gare de l'Est is shut down for the same reasons.

If you can leave from Versailles Chantier, take the "N" train to Gare Montparnasse, then change to the No 4 Metro to Gare de l'Est, then TGV to Reims. If you can depart Versailles Chantier by 7:12, you can be in Reims by 9:14. Have the TGV ticket bought in advance so you don't have to waste time buying tickets at Gare de l'Est. Train departs GdlE at 8:28. There is a later direct train from GdlE at 10:58, arriving Reims at 11:44.
