Taking LER bus to Nice from Brignoles. Where is station we get off to get to Nice Ville?

We ultimately need to end up at Nice Ville (main train station) but I can't get information on where the closest stop is in Nice for us to get off the bus. Apparently, construction has wrecked havoc with stations in Nice. Despite numerous attempts, LER and the Nice tourism office never give get the same answer twice.

I have been told three things -- 1) that the only stop will be at Vauban and then take the tram to Nice Ville. 2) I have also been told the bus will stop at Albert 1er. 3) the bus will stop at or near Place Garibaldi. (Big sigh.)

Anybody out there know for sure?

I think the real answer is to confirm when you buy the bus ticket, or the day before. This is a bus stop summary planned for the Nice chapter in the next edition of Rick's Provence book:

Eastbound Buses: Due to work on the new tram system, buses to Villefranche-sur-Mer and Monaco may stop only on the port in 2016 (closest tram stop to the port is Garibaldi). Ask at the TI if a closer bus stop is available. Buses to Eze-le-Village and La Turbie leave from the Vauban tram stop. Use the tram to reach any of these eastbound buses (free transfer to all of these destinations, except Monaco).
Westbound Buses: To St-Paul-de-Vence, Vence, Cannes, and Antibes, use the Albert I/Verdun stop on Avenue de Verdun, a 10-minute walk along the parkway west of Place Masséna.
