Hello all. Two of us need to get from Chamonix to Varenna on September 20th. I purchased 2 bus tickets with Flixbus from Chamonix to Milan; then plan on taking train from Milan to Varenna. Looking now at reviews of Flixbus; many are quite negative. Seems that the bus will sometimes not show up, leaving passengers stranded. Trying to decide whether to stick with the plan or change over to the train.
I also have the option to rent a car at Geneva airport (for $320 for 10 days) and drive to Chamonix/Varenna/back to Geneva, where I would then catch a flight to my next stop, Rome.
Your thoughts and suggestions are most welcomed.

I would keep it "as is". The chances of the bus not showing up at all are probably an outlier event, and why would you want to lose money spent on tickets needlessly? I wonder why people read (skewed) reviews "after the fact" - either they want confirmation or need a reason to second guess a decision they already made. The price differential between car and bus or train is probably quite large, and that doesn't include gas and backtracking.
