We are hoping to drop in for part of a day, hopefully to participate in a service, while we are in the Burgundy region in early October. Has anyone had a recent experience doing this?

The website of the Taizé Community is taize.fr. There is a listing of all the daily services. If you can possibly spend a night in the area (Cluny has good accommodations) I believe the most special weekday service is the evening 8:30 pm. More of the music, more contemplation. And of course Friday and Saturday evenings are even more so. But whenever you can come, the Taizé welcome will be there.
I have stayed at Taizé for the week long program, and also returned numerous times since, staying the night at b and b's or small hotels in this beautiful area.

Thank you Barbara. That is very helpful information. We will be staying for 4 days at Bissy-sous-Uxelles, a 13 minute drive away, so we should be able to go to the evening service that you recommend. We will be there over Thanksgiving weekend.

It's a rainy day here in Bissy-sous-Uxelles, and that's only the second time we've seen any rain in our 3 weeks in France. It's Canadian Thanksgiving today, and we did get to the morning service at Taize. We found it very moving, and are so glad we went.
