We are not travelling until next year but I was looking for trains around 8 - 9 AM leaving Strasbourg to the Frankfort airport on Sunday
May 9th 2027. I did a preliminary date using Sunday Sept 13 2026 and they show on the SNFC site only 3 afternoon trains on that Sunday.
Am I missing something?
I would have thought there would be more trains.
Any feedback would be appreciated.

I searched on Rail Europe and found numerous trains Strasbourg France to Frankfort airport Germany

Of course it is much too early for May schedules, as they may change when the new schedules are released. However, looking on the Deutche Bahn website, on 2 different Sundays within the next 2 months, I'm seeing over a dozen trains, starting in the early morning. All will require at least one change.

I think Shelley is doing what I often do - way in advance. I make sure the train can get me from one place to another, making sure it runs the day of the week, the time of day I'm interested and that I have a number of options. Then, yes, closer to the time I reconnect and look for the specifics of the date in question. BUT looking way ahead on the day of the week gives me a good indication that this will work.

Marnamc2, you are so right. I have been doing this since 2006. I have used the a site which gives me the train times and platforms but use the actual site of the Countries train system. That’s when I ran into this problem.
I will certainly check again closer to travel time.

French Rails shows a number of options. IN the afternoon, every two hours 5 total) and two in the morning.

Shelley, are you currently in North America and using the SNCF website?
SNCF's website is poorly programmed in that it "translates" your local time into French time. For example, if you are located in Eastern Daylight Time (UTC-4) and you search for trains on Sunday at 08:00, it will actually do a search for trains on Sunday at 14:00, since French time is currently UTC+2 and 6 hours ahead of the Eastern Time Zone.
You therefore only get afternoon train results and have to be sure to click the "show the preceding trains" button to actually see the trains in the morning.
(This is one of the things that most annoys me about SNCF's website, as it doesn't match any reasonable expectation of passenger search behavior.)

A very good planning tool, I learnt this week, across 'Europe' is SBB- Swiss Railways.
It won't give fares, but to plan times it is excellent.
Looking at the UK it beats every UK train company website, hands down, no comparison at all. In particular the station location area maps are superlatively good.
I admit it is a very left field idea, but....
And it is in the local time zone, so for me UK time not Swiss time, for UK trains.

We are currently (Sunday morning here) on the train departing Colmar and heading to Switzerland. Train schedules are a little different on Sunday ; perhaps less frequent but otherwise you will get to your destination. We have used the awesome SBB app while here but we have been going between France and Switzerland for our entire destination. I used the SCNF app for our trip to France two years ago. But as mentioned in the above post the SBB app may be helpful to you for info gathering.
My advice be a planner but remain flexible, we anticipated one more delicious French breakfast this morning, only to discover nobody opens until 11 on Sunday or doesn’t open at all. So we’ve rerouted and taken an earlier departure.
