My wife and I will be in Paris at the end of our honeymoon to France in early June. We're planning on the Louvre, Versailles, and Rue Cler as the main part of our three full days there, Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday. Which day is best for each, knowing that Versailles is closed on Monday and the Louvre on Tuesday. Thanks much for the advice!
I usually stay near the Rue Cler and enjoy the neighborhood but it is not something I would put on my itinerary to see if I weren't already there. It will take you 15 minutes at most to walk from one end to the other. If you are going to see the Eiffel Tower one day you might walk over there to take a look.
What a terrific place for a honeymoon!
Hi Nephron, I like the 7th and also choose to stay near Rue Cler. There's a lot to do in the area - the Rodin Museum and garden, Napoleon's Tomb and the military museum. You're also within walking distance of the D'Orsay Museum and the Champs Elysees. It's a beautiful area for strolling.
If you have time on the day you do the Louvre, stop in at the Orangeries to see Monet's waterlillies. Congrats on you wedding and honeymoon! "Paris is always a good choice!"
Tuesday is probably better for Versailles than the weekend, especially if the fountains are operating on Sunday. Monday is usually a more crowded day at the Louvre because the Orsay is closed.
Versailles is closed Monday.
The Louvre is closed Tuesday. .
The official website of Versailles has good tips about how best prepairing a visit. The calendar shows the attendance level of last year, but is a good indication what to expect this year:

Most market streets are closed or mostly closed on Mondays. I wouldn't go out of my way to visit rue Cler. It's just an ordinary market street in Paris. If you can tell us where you are staying we can probably suggest another, and probably better market street to visit.
Rue Cler is dead on Sunday's and Monday's. As has already been stated, it's not really a destination to go out of your way for. There are many market streets in Paris. Rue Cler is just one.
If you want a market street visit (and of course avoid Sunday afternoon and Mondays) then I would choose Montorgueil rather than Rue Cler.
