We'd like to spend about 6 nights in a coastal town in southern France the second week of March 2014. We'd prefer not to have a car and just stay somewhere were we could walk to restaurants, relax, maybe have a view of the sea. Any suggestions on where to stay or best/most economical airport to fly into? Thanks.
Southern France is not the South of France.
Which coast?
Another possibility is Collioure, and it's easily reachable by train. We visited Cassis by bus from Marseille and liked it, but the transportation was challenging as someone mentioned.
Favorite little town on the sea is St. Maxime's. Nice shopping, restaurants and a market. Also, a great beach to walk along the Mediterranean. You could fly into Nice and take a train I suppose. I always have a car so I drive around the area from there, but if I just wanted to chill out for a week by the sea it would probably be there.
