Suggestions for a nice hotel in Paris at the beginning of October

I will be coming in by train from Munich to spend 3 nights in Paris before flying home out of CDG. I think the most desired location is in the 7th arrondissement, but best hotel I found was Grand Hotel Leveque for $139 euro a night, which isn't too bad but adds up for 3 nights. I was thinking of finding a jewel somewhere else in the city that is safe, clean and easy to get around with the metro. Anyone have a suggestion?

Thanks,
Steve

To me that looks like an excellent price for a hotel in a central location in Paris in early October. I'm sure we have folks here on the Forum and who can tell you better if that particular hotel is a good one to stay at. But I don't know what you're going to find any cheaper, to be realistic, that you'd really want to stay in.

Have you looked in the RS Paris guide book yet? If so, great. If not I would suggest that you look there either by buying one elsewhere on this web site or at a library or book store. We stayed in Paris in June and July this year in hotels that were recommended by that guide book and had no complaints. We stayed in Rue Cler and at the airport.

The Royal Phare is decent, good breakfast, close to the Eiffel, recommended in RS books and cheaper.

Hotel Muguet is near the Eiffel Tower; I enjoyed my stay there. On a very quiet street, near the Ecole Militaire metro stop. Similar price to what you posted. As another poster said, that is a good price for Paris.

How much are safe, clean, central hotels in Houston? I don't ask that to be snarky, but to give some perspective. That price is about what I paid last October in the Marais, and I was happy with the hotel. It's a different area, but very walkable, and close to the Metro. I just checked and rates are higher in early October, and lower later in the month.
