Suggestions for a month in Paris

Greetings all,
My husband and I will be visiting Paris (our favorite city) for one month this summer to celebrate our 40th wedding anniversary. We prefer not to stay in a hotel however short term rentals seem to be a minimum of 3 months. I just sold mine in Palm Desert, Ca. and understand why Airbnb and VRBO are no longer viable resources in Paris as well as other cities. I was wondering if anyone had other resources such as realtors etc. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Merci beaucoub!

Hi, Patricia.
Congratulations on your upcoming anniversary! I used VRBO a few years ago to book a 2 bedroom flat in Paris for a week. Currently,I see thousands of listings for Paris this summer in the HomeAway app (parent company of VRBO). I am curious why you say VRBO is no longer a viable resource.

From what I’ve read, the Paris mayor’s office allows short-term rentals if the apartment is the principal place of residence. Owners/tenants are allowed to rent out their apartment for a maximum of four months each year. The responsibility for the apartment’s legality lies with the apartment owner, not the guest, nor the rental agencies that represent the apartments.

VRBO/Homeaway is still a legitimate resource for apartments in Paris and even Airbnb does have some legal listings. Just make sure the listing includes the 13 digit registration number. I know Paris, and other cities, have a problem with Airbnb (and maybe VRBO/Homeaway also though I've not heard of any) but that's no reason to boycott them totally and not use them for those listings that are legally registered.

If you are going this summer I'd be surprised if you will find anything with a one month vacancy, considering it is almost June. You might consider splitting your time up in a couple of apartments in different areas to get a taste of different neighborhoods.

If you do find a studio it will likely be about 12 metres square and not bothering with.
AirBnB will do if you can find a 13 digit registration number and a decent bedroom and bathroom.

We will be in Paris for 18 days in July and booked at the Citadines Bastille Marais based on a recommendation on this forum. The lodging we have is a 1-bedroom. There are a few other Citadines locations in Paris, so depends where you want to be. We had originally thought about a longer stay in Paris, but opted for a week in Bruges and a week in Pragues since intra-Europe flights are so reasonable.

If you have a home base you might consider home exchanging! We are spending just under a month in the 12th arrondissement this summer and the family whose home we're staying in will be in our house. We've been exchanging homes for 11 years now and it's become our favorite way of traveling! It's a bit late for this summer but we are still getting home exchange offers for Paris as well as many other places from those searching at the last minute. Could be a possibility!
