suggestions for 1 day/2 nights before CDG departure

Hi friends,
I will be flying to Paris from Athens in June, arriving CDG at 830 pm on a Saturday, departing CDG at 1 pm on Monday. Any suggestions for something interesting to do, maybe north of CDG, rather than heading back into Paris proper for 2 nights? Of course 2 nights in Paris is wonderful but we will have already been there earlier in the month and I'm always up for something new. Figured this group might have some suggestions, thanks!

If you are OK to rent a car, you could go to Compiègne, visiting the chateau there, nearby Pierrefonds, and the armistice memorial.
Closer still, Senlis and Chantilly are also worthwhile.

Senlis is the only interesting town near the airport. I would think you would get a taxi as public transport is not that great from Paris and probably worse from the airport. No idea how open and lively it is on a Sunday. we went on a Monday (rookie mistake) when tourist little towns are shut down tight. Also near there is the Chateau Chantilly which might be combined with a Senlis visit. You can check out their website to see hours and what is happening there on a Sunday. Maybe Mornings at Chantilly and Dinner in Senlis. https://janettravels.wordpress.com/2010/06/12/moyen-age-visit-to-senlis/. Make sure you arrange transport back to your hotel or consider staying that first night IN Senlis and the last night at an airport hotel.

Thanks both. Oh my gosh Jane your post about this looks eerily like my experience in Seillans a few years ago. It's a quaint little village close to Nice, but I made the rookie mistake of going in November for a week (and sadly, taking some friends along who'd never been to France--yikes) and there was one restaurant open each night. We were lucky to find a cup of coffee each morning. We ended up day tripping a lot to Nice, Cannes, and Antibes simply because there was more going on there. Turned out to be great overall--but definitely a winter village experience. Sounds like a Sunday in Chantilly/Senlis might be worthwhile. Much appreciated!
