Suggestions between Torino or Genoa?

My husband and I are traveling to France and Italy next September. We are starting in Paris traveling to Nice for 3 days then trying to make a decision from Nice. We like to experience the culture through the local sites, food and drink, and beauty of the region. Any suggestions between Turino or Genoa for the following week? We are flying home from Milan. Thank you!

I haven't made it to Turin yet and haven't spent enough time in Genoa to have an opinion, but I see from the ViaMichelin website that one of the driving routes from Nice to Turin goes practically all the way to Genoa before turning north. I assume, though, that you do not plan to drive because of the very high international drop fee you'd face.

I think three days is rather short in Nice. There are lots of good side-trips one can take from Nice by train or by bus. I'm not clear on whether the week you mentioned in your post is intended to cover some time in Milan or is just what you're considering spending in Turin or Genoa. If the latter, I'd give serious consideration to peeling off a day or two for extra sightseeing around the Riviera.

If you're asking which of the two cities -- Turin or Genoa -- is more worth a visit, you'd probably get better replies on the Italy forum.

When you say "the following week," do you mean that you'll have 7 days after Nice before your day of departure out of Milan? If so, that gives you a nice chunk of time to divide among a few destinations.

I would stay in Nice area longer then go to the Langhe wine area in Piedmont outside of Turin, then you can get to Milan from Turin, there's even a bus to the Milan airport from the Turin train station.

The Langhe and its rolling hills and vineyards are so beautiful, check out places like Barolo, Neive, Serralungha d'Alba, La Morra. I can recommend a wonderful restaurant, l'Osteria del Vignaiolo, in La Morra in the small village of Santa Maria. Pick up a guidebook or read online about Le Langhe or Piedmont wine region.

The train from Nice to Turin changes in Genoa, so we spent the night in Genoa in order to visit the aquarium there before heading to Turin for a week. There is a lot to see in Turin and around, with sights to appeal to different tastes (i.e., not just history museum, art museum, big church, although it has those things, too).
