We are staying in Rioja Region /San Sebastian for a week in May before we head Castelnaud-la-Chapelle for the second week of our trip in Dordogne/Bordeaux. Does any one have a recommendation for an easy but worthwhile one night stop on the way? Thank you in advance!
Have you comsidered Arcachon?
Bordeaux's right on your route, but if you're driving, a small town would probably be more practical.
Maybe Biarritz?
Thanks for the suggestions. Staying on or near the coast doesn't help break up the drive. We are looking for a stop a few hours away from San Sebastian along the way to Dordogne.
Hi Cathy,
from your comment about the coast, it seems that you want to take the A64 to the A65 and up to Dordogne. Close to San Sebastian, off the A64 I suggest Salies de Bearn, a bit further off the highway is Navarrenx. If you want to go a bit more to the north, Fources.
I think Fources, in the mid-Pyrennes will be perfect overnight stop. I am reserving a room at Du Côté de Chez Jeannne. Thank you for the suggestion!
