We are a couple in our mid 70s third trip to France. Doing four nights in the Loire Valley and then 7 in Paris. Need a suggestion for our first 4 nights. We were going to go to Bordeaux then Sarlat but, too far.
For our first four nights, looking at Burgundy, would like a charming town to stay in and central. We are staying in Amboise for the Loire Valley portion. Any thoughts would be appreciated.

If you are interested in WW II, Bayeux is an excellent base about 2 hours 15 minutes from Paris. Reims is great especially if you like visiting vineyards. Strasbourg is wonderful and has many day trips to Colmar and other charming towns. My favorite, like Strasbourg, less than 2 hours by train is Lyon. Great food, interesting museums and sights, convenient for day trips.
