Due to a great airfare sale, we would like suggestions for a two-week itinerary starting, AND ending in Paris, with our preference to get over to Switzerland/Alps region and work our way back to Paris via Chamonix. A day in Paris at the beginning and one or two days in Paris at the end is what we are thinking. It's a Wednesday to Wednesday time frame. Our priority is the Alpine portion and just Paris itself; we don't have the time for the rest of France. Wondering how far east into Switzerland would be feasible as a starting point. Thanks for any ideas you folks may have.
Do you plan to rent a car or use the train? Either way, you can easily get from Paris to Dijon in a day, then in another day to Bern, Lausanne, or Geneva. Another day's travel would take you south to Chamonix, and another day or two back to Paris. That is 4-5 days of travel to spread over 10 days if you use 4 of your 14 days to see Paris. Sounds like a beautiful trip!
