Strike by air traffic controllers for September 16

We are flying home from Paris tomorrow (Thursday, Sept 15), and we received this notice from Air France today:

Industrial strike action by the air traffic controllers in France on September 16, 2022
Updated on 14 September 2022, 4:00 PM Paris local time

A call for strike has been launched by the French air traffic controllers on 16 September, 2022 The French Civil Aviation Authority (DGAC) has requested airlines to reduce their flight schedule from all French airports by 50% on that day. Air France plans to operate on that day around:

90% of its long-haul flights,
45% of its short and medium-haul flights.
Delays and last minute cancellations cannot be ruled out. The flight schedule is updated and customers affected by cancelled flights will be notified individually by SMS and e-mail. They will be offered rebooking options at no cost or a voucher or a full refund in case they no longer travel. Our teams at the airport and in our customer relations centers are fully mobilized. They will do everything possible to assist you and limit the impact of this strike on your trip.

Air France is doing everything it can to keep the long-haul flights running. So... hopefully you will be fine!

These strikes have been going on for years. I have never seen any interruption to transatlantic service, particularly flights on non-EU carriers.

I always said the same, Tocard, until my son's CDG-IAD direct flight was cancelled while we were over for a family milestone. I scrambled and got him a one-way ticket back on Icelandic and AF reimbursed him.

Bets - Interesting. Was the UAL CDG to IAD flight cancelled?

No idea. We were out in a rural Brittany gîte with wobbly internet, so we didn't shop around, just grabbed the Icelandic seat for him.

This was the first time I had seen a transatlantic caught up in a strike. I kept reassuring him all weekend that his flight would be fine, but Monday morning proved his Mom was wrong.
