Strike Affecting Trains, Flights, and Tourist Attractions

Hello
Just to be clear- I just saw a post on this Forum that stated Versailles was closed this past Thursday due to strike- have other Tourist Attractions closed as well?? It started with just the Trains, then Air France, but I was under the impression all museums and Tourist attractions were still open??

Part of the pitfalls of visiting France is learning they close/strike on a whim.

Aloha Demi Hale, :). Thank you for your information about Versailles. I am traveling on my second Rick Steves Tour, the 21 days Best of Europe, and am staying three days in Paris after the tour is over, specifically. to visit Versailles. If you have any other information, please post, < I am also beginning to read Rick Steve's posts on the strike>

Versailles has been closing early on some strike days as crowds have lessened. I don´t remember seeing anything about Versailles being closed completely.

Yep, it happens although infrequently. The Eiffel was closed on April 13th due to a strike.

I remember the Louvre being closed for strike a few years back as well.

But security issues can abruptly close an attraction temporarily too. The Eiffel was evacuated and closed to a bomb scare the week we were in Paris some years ago as well as the main entrance to Gare du Nord (suspicious package or piece of baggage) the day we left for Amsterdam. The authorities in France take the safety of citizens and locals very seriously, which is a comfort versus an inconvenience. :O)
