We are arriving Strasbourg from Stuttgart via train around 4pm during christmas holiday season.
Planning to store our luggage in the train station, and explore the christmas market before checking into our hotel.
Anybody have information regarding luggage lockers near Strasbourg?? and how much??
thank you in advance...
Gene, is there some reason you don't want to drop off your luggage at your hotel? Or is your hotel in an outlying area?
The Christmas Market is about a 15-20 minute walk from the train station so it might be just as easy to stop in at your hotel and then head out to the market. Just curious. 😊
Thank you Gundersen. The links were helpful.
I did click on the first link.. and it says it is closed.. is it because it is outside the business hours?
HI Mardee, we are staying at AC Marriott - which based on google map is 15 min off the main christmas market via metro.. it looks like strasbourg cathedral is 20 min walk from train station... Cathedral (where market will be) is east of station, and my hotel is north of the station... so still trying to decide how to coordinate this..
Gene,
Would it be feasible to take a taxi to your hotel to drop the bags, then walk to the market? I have no idea of the cost or ease of this, just wondering.
It looks like the Bus H will take you from the station to right by your hotel (three-minute walk). That is what I would do. Go to the hotel, drop bags, then into town for the markets.
I would suggest downloading the CityMapper app, choose Strasbourg as your city, and input your hotel address as home. Then you can see what it suggests for getting from station to the hotel, and from hotel to the Cathedral. .(And back out to your hotel again in the evening)
(And I clicked on Gunderson's first link and it tells me open, so your finding it closed must indeed be a function of the time of day you were looking at the website (it's 9 am here in France now when I am looking)
If you check into the hotel first, you will be worry-free. The luggage storage places have closing hours that will have you running back and forth and cut into your evening at the market.
I'm with Judy, Kim and Elizabeth. If you can at all possibly do it, take your bags to your hotel and check-in. That way you don't have to worry about going back to the station, getting the luggage and then going back to your hotel. It will just make it so much easier. Even if it takes an extra 10-15 minutes, it will be worth it. I guarantee you that.
And the markets will be going on for a while in the evening so you've got plenty of time
And the markets are most magical in the evenings anyway....
The walk from the main train station to Place Kleber is about 15 minutes. But the tram runs right to there (it stops in front of the book store across from Galleries Lafayette.) Your hotel is a couple miles from there (3km+). Go to the hotel, drop your bags. They will hold them for you if your room isn't ready. You can take the tram from your hotel to Homme de Fer (which you can't miss) and walk a block to the main market. The other markets are scattered around. They have maps that show where.
