Strasbourg to Vienna via Basel

In mid-September, we will be in Paris and then travel to Strasbourg for two days where we plan to travel by train from Strasbourg to Basel to catch a flight to Vienna. The airport shows up as EuroAirport Basel Mulhouse Freiburg Airport (EAP) (Station). Can you all assist me with understanding how to get from the train station to the airport for our flight (will be Swiss Air or Austrian Air). I'm trying to figure out how much time to leave for that portion. Looking at the airport map, it as a French side and a Swiss side. Once there I presume it is clear which side to access for our departure?

Given the concern about possible air traffic strikes, i'm wondering if anyone has another suggestion for getting to Vienna from Strasbourg.
Thanks.

easy. Train from Strasbourg station to Basel SBB station. Go outside where all the trams and buses circle. Look on the signs and display for "Aeroport". Get on the special bus. Get off at the other end. You're there.

Personally I would never fly for that leg. Easy trains to Vienna (Wien) from Switzerland with an easy change in Zurich (Zürich HB). Beautiful scenery, not too much longer elapsed time than flying when you roll in all the other time eaters involved with flying.

I agree that it is a pretty roundabout way to get to Vienna from Strasbourg. But a faster option by train is probably via Stuttgart and Munich. More comfortable and no need to stress since you have the entire trip on one ticket. And as an added bonus, you're not affected by air traffic strikes.

Of course, there are always the possibility of rail strikes. Fastest way appears to be TGV to Mannheim, followed by a train to Munich, then to Vienna, in 8 1/2 hours.

Assuming you want the 10:20 am flight to Vienna. Take the 6:51 train to Basel and with the connecting bus to the Euroairport will get you there by 8:31 which should be sufficient to get your plane to Vienna. All told, should get you to central Vienna by 1 pm, with the train from Vienna airport.

You could also get to the Euroairport by getting off in St Louis, just before Basel and taking the Distri Bus to the airport. Might save a couple of Euros. That will get you there about the same time. Again, assuming a weekday flight.

Thanks for the great feedback. We've enjoyed train travel previously in central France so are going to look closely at that option. Really appreciate your help.
